How to Use this Worksheet

In this fifth grade math worksheet, students are required to find and write the quotient of 4 digit by 2 digit numbers long division without remainder as like in the given solved example of this online workbook for long division problems. In such problems, the dividend is always 4-digit numbers and the divisor is always 2-digit numbers.

To solve 4-digit by 2-digit numbers long division problems, check how many times the divisor can be subtracted from the first two digits of the given dividend and write it as part of quotient as how many number of times the divisor accommodated in dividend. Write the difference between dividend and the product of divisor & quotient below the line.

From left to right, bring down the 3rd digit of dividend and append it to the right side of reminder of first step. This resulting number becomes the new dividend for step 2. Check if the divisor is subtracted from the new dividend, if yes write the how many number of times the divisor can be subtracted from the new dividend and append the quantity to right side of the quotient of first 2 digits of the dividend. If the divisor is not subtracted from the new dividend (divisor is bigger than new dividend), append ZERO to the quotient of first 2 digits of the dividend and bring down the 4th digit and repeat the same procedure again & again until the last digit of dividend is brought to division.
